Smarty II SOD
Temperature Limit Control / SOD
Tmax 320°C / Imax 16A / short reaction time / orientation independent mounting / temperature resistant ceramic housing / standard terminals
Once properly installed, the Single Operating Device (SOD), type 162 731 in accordance with DIN EN 60730-2-9, is suitable for use wherever a maximum permissible temperature must not be exceeded, for example in coffee makers, steam irons, dishwashers, dryers or for the protection of electrical heating elements.
A vaulted bimetal disc is used as a temperature sensing element. Positioned directly on the base plate, the disc quickly responds to temperature changes. Once the defined cutoff temperature has been reached, the bimetal snapping disc operates and permanently opens the electric circuit. In order to ensure that the circuit remains permanently open, it does not snap back into its original position after the cool-down phase.

Applications
Once properly installed, the Single Operating Device (SOD), type 162 731 in accordance with DIN EN 60730-2-9, is suitable for use wherever a maximum permissible temperature must not be exceeded, for example in coffee makers, steam irons, dishwashers, dryers or for the protection of electrical heating elements.
Structure and mode of operation
A vaulted bimetal disc is used as a temperature sensing element. Positioned directly on the base plate, the disc quickly responds to temperature changes. Once the defined cutoff temperature has been reached, the bimetal snapping disc operates and permanently opens the electric circuit. In order to ensure that the circuit remains permanently open, it does not snap back into its original position after the cool-down phase.
