Today:

The companies Inter Control and Alre employ more than 600 people worldwide and achieve a turnover of 55 million Euro.

Their activities are concentrated on electrotechnical and electronic products for the household appliance industry, controls for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and automation systems for mobile machinery.

The Inter Control Group has three manufacturing facilities and is active globally with subsidiaries and representatives throughout the world. Both products and customer service enjoy an excellent reputation.

2002 Alre joins the Inter Control / Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau Group

The company Alre GmbH, Berlin is acquired and cooperation with Inter Control / Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau begins.


1999 Extension in Schafhofstrasse

Inter Control's existing main building is extended with two new floors.

1998 digsy Compact presented at the BAUMA

In 1998, the new "digsy Compact" series is introduced. This control concept is specially designed to meet the needs of the mobile machine manufacturers.

1997 Sales Office in Hong Kong

A sales office is opened in Hong Kong as a base for the Asian region.

New factory in the Czech Republic

Inter Control extends the manufacturing facility in the Czech Republic. A new factory is built and today provides work for approximately 300 employees.

Cesky Inter Control

Production activities in the Czech Republic are transferred to the subsidiary Cesky Inter Control.

ISO 9002 certification of Cesky Inter Control

Cesky Inter Control is audited by VDE and awarded the ISO 9002 certificate.

1996 ISO 9001

Inter Control and Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau are audited by VDE and are awarded the ISO 9001 certificate.

1991 Foundation of Euromont in Lisany, Czech Republic

A separate company is founded and grows rapidly in rented premises.

Introduction of the Smarty Plus series

Market launch of the Smarty Plus series, a range of bimetallic snap disc thermostats. The modular design offers solutions for a variety of customer requirements and quickly becomes established on the market.

1990 Czech Republic

Inter Control and Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau expand their production activities to the Czech Republic.


1985 Electronic systems for mobile applications

The focus of the business unit "Electronics" is shifted to the "mobile machinery and outdoor applications " market. The product range is continuously extended.

1983 digsy PLC presented at INTERKAMA

It is decided to develop a new, pioneering generation of programmable logic controllers. Inter Control introduces the "digsy-PLC" to the public.

1980 Relocation to Vermont, USA

Inter Control Inc., USA is founded.


1979 First programmable room temperature control from Inter Control

Electronic room thermostats are now part of the product range. Inter Control is one of the first companies in the world to introduce a programmable room thermostat with a weekly program.

1978 Single board controls

The company starts working with microprocessor technology. The world's first microprocessor controls for Wurlitzer juke boxes represent a major success. Inter Controls modifies and develops these products further for use in warehouse paternosters, elevators and other applications.

1977 Electronics division

The company takes over the electronics division of Nortron. The product range includes remote controls for garage doors and radio controls for toy cars manufactured by Schuco.

1972 Subsidiary in Montreal, Canada

International activities are strengthened with the foundation of a subsidiary in Montreal, Canada. Here rod thermostats are produced.

1971 First steps in automation

The shortage of personnel and increasing competitive pressure lead to the acquisition of the first production automates.

Electronic data processing

Electronic data processing systems are integrated in the business processes for the first time. This is still very rare for a medium-sized company.

1970 New building in Schafhofstrasse

Inter Control outgrows its premises, a new building is added on the existing site.


1969 Joint exhibition at Domotechnica

Inter Control und Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau present their products together for the first time at the Domotechnica in Cologne.

1968 Inter Control and Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau merge

The competitor Thermostat- und Schaltgerätebau in Bad Kissingen is taken over and continues to be run as an independent company. The companies are restructured to establish cooperation with complementary products in place of the previous competitive situation.

1964 Foundation of Inter Control

Inter Control is founded in 1964 in Nuremberg. The purpose of the company is the development, manufacture and marketing of electrotechnical products, in particular temperature-dependent switching and control devices.
